OCTOBER 2024

HALLOWEEN PARTIES!

Friday, October 25th, we will have Halloween parties for the Snickers, MilkyWays, Gummy Bears, Sour Patch, Lollipops, and Hot Tamales classes.  Children may come in costume that day and the infant class can join too!  Costumes should not be too scary and must allow easy diaper-changing and toileting.  Costumes will be removed for quiet time. We cannot be responsible for torn or dirty costumes, so please send your child in something that you aren’t concerned about being ruined for Halloween trick-or-treating!  A sign-up sheet will be posted on the door of each of the participating classes later this month if you would like to volunteer to bring a treat for your child’s class.  The times of each party are during afternoon snack (2:30) and will be posted on brightwheel and in the classroom.  You are welcome to join us and help your child’s teacher!

WELCOME

I would like to welcome Ms. Patience Tidwell back to the Kids’ Campus team!  Ms. Patience was employed here from June 2022 to April 2023.  She moved to Alvin after getting married and worked at a center there.  She recently moved back to the area and I snatched her up again.  She will be a Teacher Aide and closing closing the SugarBabies room when Ms. Stephanie leaves for the day.  If you don’t already know her, please introduce yourself in the next weeks and welcome her back to Kids’ Campus.

We also have a daily volunteer, Sara Hilton!  She has recently graduated from Sweeny High School and is testing the waters in child care for a career in education!

PICTURE DAY

Picture day is Friday October 11, 2024. Ms. Karen will arrive between 6:30 and 7 to set up.  She will start photographing the SugarBabies class first and work her way to the Snickers Class.  Please bring your child in their photo-shoot attire.  Be sure to supply brush, comb, instructions for your expectations for the photo-shoot, and a change of play clothes.  Tuesday-Thursday students may arrive at 9:00 a.m. and will be fit in as soon as possible.  In a couple of weeks, they will return with printed photos of your child/children to choose from.  Stay tuned for more information.

SWEENY ISD FALL BREAK

Sweeny ISD will have a student holiday the October 14th – 18th.  If you need all day care, the charge is $27/day.  An adjusted payment schedule will be posted on brightwheel and will be adjusted daily according to attendance.  Because of this, you may wait to pay make-up tuition the following week.  Regular weekly tuition is due regardless of attendance.  Kinder – 5th grade students attending will need to supply a morning snack and lunch.  There is a microwave available, and Ms. KK and/or Mr. Craig will be there to walk them through using the microwave and anything else needed.

REMINDERS

Breakfast at Kids’ Campus ends at 7:25. Please arrive in time for your child to eat or have them fed before arrival.  Breakfast needs to be ready to eat/pre-cooked when brought from home.  We do not have the staff to care for late arrivals who also need to eat breakfast.  Perishable foods (donuts, poptarts, oatmeal, etc.) cannot be saved and will be thrown away.

Don’t forget that children must be checked in and out daily!  The tablet is provided for your convenience in the front table.  We must have a record of this for licensing

When you take your child in for a well check appointment, please supply us with the updated shot record.  Thank you!

BOOK ORDERS

Scholastic book orders for October will be in mailboxes the no later than next week for Snickers and MilkyWays.  If you would like to order books for your child/children this month, please fill out the order form and drop it with payment in the pink basket by Monday, October 23rd.  Make checks payable to Scholastic, no cash please.  You may also order online at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs.  Our activation code for on-line ordering is M9CMD.  Books are delivered and put in your child’s box in about a week.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

A huge thank you to Mr. Craig and Ms. KK.  They earned the title of September Employees of the Month.

It takes maturity and comfort in your own skin to know where you excel and where you need to work on your job "position".  Mr. Craig felt, after a lengthy discussion with me, that Ms. KK would be a better fit as the Schooler Teacher and stepped down from that title.  Ms. KK was honored and agreed to be the Schooler teacher moving forward!

Congratulations to you both for a job well done!
